Onix heeft een omvangrijk archief met foto’s tijdens de bouw gemaakt. Wat als ik dat archief nu eens gebruik om er als het ware één groot gebouw in aanbouw mee te bouwen, één groot Onix-ge-bouw in wording? De UNmovie ‘Building Space’ is het gevolg. Gemaakt voor het Onix deel van ‘Tangible Traces’, de Nederlandse bijdrage aan de architectuurbiënnale in Sao Paulo in 2007. Het is eigenlijk een ‘loop’ en zo draaide het ook in de expositie, als een ruimte zonder begin of eind. De muziek van Circle (what’s in a name?) past er erg goed bij, die lost óók niet op. Gebruikt met toestemming van de band. Of ze ook een kopietje hebben? Ik weet het niet (meer). Dit moet je eigenlijk GROOT zien … en hier zie je een fragmentje. Kom maar langs als je durft.
Onix holds an extensive archive of pictures taken on site during the actual construction of their projects. So I thought, what would happen if I used that archive to create, as it were, one huge building under construction, one big Onix building under construction? Well, the UNmovie ‘Building Space’ was what happened. Created as Onix’s contribution to ‘Tangible Traces’, the Dutch entry at the São Paulo Architecture Biennial 2007. It’s actually a ‘loop’, which is also exactly how it was displayed at the exhibition, as a space without a beginning or an end. The music of Circle (what’s in a name?)* fits in here very well, with its never-ending patterns. Used with the band’s permission. Do they also have a copy? I don’t know (anymore). This footage really comes to its own when viewed on a BIG screen … and this is only a small fragment. Be my guest for the rest…
* Circle is an experimental rock band, founded in Pori, Finland in 1991. Their eclectic style is ‘ever changing, ever circular’.
