Als Groningen een creatieve stad is dan is Pavlov Media haar stadsdichter. Toen dit kunstenaarscollectief geen subsidie meer kreeg (schande!) besloten we een boek uit te geven. Niet een historisch overzicht van de meest spraakmakende situationistische stadsprojecten, wel een ‘DIY-kookboek’ voor wie bereid is op avontuur te gaan in zijn of haar eigen stad – alsof het allemaal nog moet gebeuren. En het moet allemaal nog gebeuren…

If Groningen is considered to be a creative city, Pavlov must surely be its city poet. After this artists’ collective wasn’t awarded a follow-up grant (what a disgrace!) we decided to publish this book. Not a historical overview of most of the high-profile and successful Situationist* city projects, but a ‘DIY cook book’ for those who are willing to explore their own city – as if literally all of this city ‘ground’ still remains to be covered. And indeed, it all does still remain to be covered ….

* The term ‘Situationist’ refers to the construction of situations, one of the early central concepts of the Situationist International (or SI, which was an international organization of social revolutionaries, the exclusive membership of which was made up of avant-garde artists, intellectuals, and political theorists, active from its formation in 1957 to its dissolution in 1972).
